Gonzo's
MoonWomb are a trio from Melbourne, Australia. Consisting of Martin
O'Shea (Drums), Nicholas Hammond (Bass Guitar / Vocal), and Daniel
O'Shea (Trumpet / Keyboard / Vocal).
Gonzo is a schismatic meld of unique instrumentation, diverse stylistic elements, exploration, experimentation, atonality, unconventional rhythms, aggression juxtaposed with funkiness, and improvisation - fused into a volatile, yet accessible new sound challenging the traditional backwards, narrow constraints of musical definition.
The MoonWomb is the sound of dirty fat angry Bass, filthy electronically contorted and distorted chunky analogue Keyboard, frantic maniacal Trumpet, wrenching screaming Vocals, and cataclysmic Drums - twisting, deviating, contrasting, and interchanging with funkified Organ and Bass, hard-edged Trumpet, grooving beats, heartfelt Vocals, and spoken word in an undefinable organised chaos of sound and noise.
"This band are certainly breaking new ground & can't really be
pigeonholed into a particular musical area. It's refreshing to see a band
prepared to do something on their own style rather than copying everyone
else." - hEARd Magazine
"These guys are out there, and experimental is definitely the right word to describe their style, if not an understatement." - ROYHSDYN
"Most will find 'Gonzo's MoonWomb' at a glance very absurd and strange but look deeper and you will see much more than its abstract surface." - The Bass Player On-Line
"Gonzo's MoonWomb? Progeny of Frank Zappa, perhaps?" ... "who smash away on their drums, trumpet and keyboards as though they loathe them" - Inpress Magazine
"... a twisting, unpredictable excursion through three brains that sharply deviates from your everyday musical normalcy, while grasping enough common ground to tease your ears into listening." - Splendid E-Zine
"... music that walks the edge of reality as we know it. At times the fat slapping bass, manic trumpet and relentless organ drive combine to make a sound that is nothing short of brilliant madness. These guys are three cats playing with combined synergy under a full moon going loco." ... "bulldozed my collective musical knowledge out of my brain and made space for the unexpected." - mono.net
"... discover creation, get a life, be born into Gonzo's MoonWomb! 10 out of 10" - The Bass Player On-Line
